Chapter 11
Slaying the Beast

Gallahon and his two companions had completed their current objective in finding the six crusaders.  There was of course Creed Bladestorm, the leader and founder of the six crusaders, the loyal bodyguards of King Psygon.  There was also Estoc who was the scrawny type but very athletic and also considered of being fancy.  Bolin was the muscle of the six crusaders and he was built.  There was even stories about him fighting a group of four skilled and trained warriors at once all by himself and Bolin killed them all.  Vajra was a pretty strange one.  White hair, red eyes and very pale skin.  Some even confused him to being a vampire.  Elizabeth was the only female of the six crusaders.  She may have been a blonde haired beauty but she has had a lot of training with a sword before she could join the six.
And finally there was Tyrfing.  The only crusader who had an Asian origin to him.  Some say that he maybe the Samurai of the six crusaders considering he was very skilled with a katana and he knew a lot about Ninjitsu.  Although the six crusaders have been found, Gallahon’s quest was far from over.  Creed had informed Gallahon of the lost power of his shield and had to help him find the Dragon stones.  Only by reuniting the shield with the Dragon stones can the shield truly be activated, so said Creed Bladestorm.  Creed pointed to the last stone door of the temple.
“There!  The Dragon stones must be through there.  That’s the only room we haven’t checked.”  Gallahon lead on and the others followed.  But just before they got to the door, they were greeted by a familiar foe.  One that Team Darkoss has not seen in ages.  A purplish black like portal had appeared in the air and out came a dark cloaked man.  The portal disappeared behind him.  Team Darkoss were shocked to see who it was as if they could not believe their own eyes.
“Razath!  It can’t be!” Said Trenton.  “You fell to my blade long ago!”  Razath gave off a ghastly grin and laughed.
“Or so it seemed I have.  You Elves may be skillful, but you are not too bright are you?” Laughed Razath.  “We summoner’s can easily fake our own death’s.  What you saw was nothing more than just an illusion Elf.  You all are weak and pathetic!  Team Darkoss couldn’t stop me.  The Six Crusaders failed to stop me as well, ha ha ha!  I am invincible!  I tried to tell them that dark magic can be a powerful weapon, but they wouldn’t listen to reason.  Instead they banished me.”  Estoc had spotted a spear on the ground next to him.
“SHUT UP!” He yelled as he picked up the spear and threw it at Razath.  The spear was flying towards Razath as he leaned back, watching the spear fly right by him.  The spear’s head imbedded itself into the wall behind him.  Razath looked back down at them with his bright red eyes.
“You fools!” Razath shouted.  “You dare raise up arms against me again?  My powers are too great!  But if you wish to meet your end in battle, then allow me to be the cause of your deaths.” Razath said as he raised his arms and used his dark magic to summon a sword.  A sword that only he can wield, but this was no ordinary sword.  This sword was made of not steel or iron, but of dark matter with a purplish black aura surrounding the blade.  But Razath could clearly see that he was still outnumbered and a sword would not be enough for there were nine of them now and only one of him.
Gallahon, armed with his sword and shield, rushed in and attacked Razath.  Razath guarded against Gallahon’s sword swing and pushed him back.  Creed got his shield from his back and pulled out his sword from behind the shield as if his sheath was attached to the back of his shield.  If fact every one of the crusaders had the exact same shield with sheath’s attached to the back of their shields.
“CHARGE!” Commanded Creed.  The other crusaders followed Creed into battle against Razath.  Creed swung his sword but Razath ducked and kicked Creed back while Trenton and Nina attacked Razath together.  Razath blocked every blow Trenton and Nina swung at him.  Gallahon swung his sword from behind Razath, but Razath leaned aside and grabbed Gallahon’s blade.  With all of his might, Razath threw Gallahon into Nina and Trenton.
Razath looked at his hand as it was bleeding but he did not care.  Bolin came in charging but Razath dodged his attack as Elizabeth and Estoc attacked Razath.  Razath jumped up high in the air and then came back down as he pounded the floor with his fist, releasing a powerful aura big enough to knock them back.  Vajra rushed towards Razath as he blocked every swing Vajra threw at him.  Razath pushed Vajra back as Gallahon came towards Razath.  Razath blocked Gallahon’s swing but Gallahon whacked Razath in the face with his shield.
Gallahon then kicked Razath as Razath stepped back.  Razath wiped his mouth and saw it was bleeding.
“You mortal fool!” Razath shouted as he raised his arms in the air.  All of the bones of dead Draconians within the cells began to move.  The bones had surrounded Razath.  The bones had reattached themselves and formed new undead Draconians.
“He made an army?  Hey!  That’s cheating!” Gallahon yelled out.
“What did you expect?  Bad guy’s to fight fair?  Kill them all!”
“They’re just piles of bone.  We’ll easily crush them.” Smiled Creed.  As Creed and his fellow crusaders fought the undead Draconians, Gallahon and his followers fought Razath.  As Gallahon charged with his sword, Razath clanged his sword with Gallahon’s and the two struggled blades for a while, trying to break each other’s defenses.  Gallahon quickly swept kicked Razath as he then tried to strike Razath while he was down.  Razath flipped himself back up, missing Gallahon’s blade.  Trenton and Nina came charging in as Razath jumped back and threw these dark energy like balls at them both.  Upon impact, the energy balls had shocked them both.
Razath then threw one more at Gallahon but Gallahon used his shield to bounce the energy ball back to Razath as it shocked Razath instead of Gallahon.  Razath was vulnerable to attack, but only for a moment.  Gallahon sought the perfect opportunity to strike.  He rushed towards Razath, ready to finish him.  But something caught Gallahon’s leg.  One of the undead Draconians grabbed Gallahon’s leg from the floor and made him loose balance, causing him to fall down.  Gallahon turned to face the Draconian.  Gallahon used his other leg to kick it in the face, breaking off his jaw.
The jaw bone was barely hanging onto the Draconians skull.  The Draconian turned to Gallahon.  Before it could do anything else, Nina came up, placed her feet on its skull and dismembered its skull from its spine.  Gallahon’s leg was freed.  He quickly rushed towards Razath.  As Razath regained cautiousness, Gallahon drove his blade right through him.
“Got you you son of a bitch!” Gallahon said as he drove his blade deeper into Razath’s torso.  Except it wasn’t Razath, just another dark clone.  The real Razath came up behind Gallahon.  As Razath raised his sword up, ready to impale Gallahon, Gallahon flipped his sword and impaled Razath in the stomach.  Razath just stood there with his jaw dropped and Gallahon’s blade imbedded into his stomach.  Razath was gashing out blood from his mouth as Gallahon took out his sword from his stomach, turned and dismembered his head clean off his neck.
Razath’s lifeless corpse fell to the ground as Gallahon sheathed his sword.  Upon Razath’s defeat, the bones of the undead Draconians shattered and scattered all over the floor.  Creed looked upon Gallahon as if he could not believe that Razath, after so many years, was at last defeated.  But Gallahon could not help but wonder what Razath said just before the battle started.  He said that he told ‘them’ and ‘they’ had banished him.  Who could he have been talking about?  The crusaders had put their weapons away.
“Those bone sacks didn’t stand a chance.” Tyrfing joked.
“I never thought I would see the day that Razath has fallen.” Creed said as he walked up to Gallahon.  Creed placed his hand onto Gallahon’s shoulder and smiled.  “You truly have a fighter’s soul in you Gallahon.  But now’s not the time for celebration.” Creed said as he turned towards his fellow crusaders.  “We have been sent on a mission by our king to find the Dragon stones.  And we will not rest until our mission is complete!  And Gallahon bears the very shield.  So let us go through that door and complete our mission.  What say you?”
The others cheered on as Gallahon had lead Nina, Trenton and the crusaders through the final door of the temple.  Gallahon held up the necklace he was still wearing in front of the door.  The door, bearing the bust of a Dragon’s head above it, shot out a beam from the eyes and onto the pendent of the necklace.  After a few seconds, the eyes closed and the final door had opened, revealing the roof of the temple.  Gallahon and the others had gone through the door and they were out in the open.
They breathed in the fresh air as if they were cooped up inside the temple for far too long.  The nice cool breeze blowing upon their faces.  The sun beams warming up their cheeks.  They could see a shrine across from them bearing the very Dragon stones they were searching for.
“There they are!” Creed pointed out.  “The legendary Dragon stones.  We finally made it.”  But to get to the Dragon stones, they had to go through one final challenge.  Dark clouds were forming and blocked the sun.  Just some sunlight was still shining through the clouds.  Dralord had stood upon the top of the door.  Dralord drew his two axes and jumped down, trying to catch them off guard.  Vajra caught Dralord from the corner of his eye and quickly covered himself behind his shield.
Dralord managed to cut Vajra with his other axe.  Vajra’s cry for aid alerted the others.  A loud clash of thunder filled the sky as Dralord swung at Gallahon, but Creed blocked Dralord’s attack and saved Gallahon’s life.  Dralord swung his axes down at Creed.  Creed blocked with his shield and pulled out his sword.  Dralord attacked again but Creed manage to cut Dralord’s leg.  Rain drops had begun to fall as Dralord stepped back, covering his wounded leg.
As Gallahon ran towards Dralord, he stopped in his tracks as if something else caught his attention.  The ground beneath their feet shook just a little.  A Dragon’s hand had risen up and grabbed the side of the building.  The Sea Dragon had pulled itself up to the top of the roof.  Dralord looked above him and screamed as the Sea Dragon had opened up its massive jaw and swallowed him whole.  Gallahon and the others had readied their weapons, prepared for battle.  It was nine against the Sea Dragon.  The Dragon looked upon them and attacked.  As they avoided from being crushed, the crusaders split up in all directions and surrounded the beast.  Gallahon tried to sneak behind it, but the Dragon used its tail to pound the floor, creating an earthquake and knocked Gallahon off balance.
It then used its tail to knock Gallahon aside.  He flew and hit a wall behind him.  Trenton and Nina attacked it together but the Dragon’s scales acted like shields, they’re blades could not pierce it.  The Dragon’s armor was thick.  Gallahon woke from cautiousness and tried again.  He ran towards the beast, ducking under its tail as it was swinging left and right.  He managed to climb up the beast and climb up its back.
The beast was moving all around, making it difficult for Gallahon to keep his balance.  The crusaders found bows and arrows scattered on the floor.  They picked up the bows and started shooting arrows at the beast to get its attention.  It was working but only for a short while.  The Dragon came up to the crusaders.  The crusaders were frightened, they have actually never fought a Dragon before not alone expected to face one in battle.  All they had to worry about were warlocks, wizards and even demons.
The beast’s armor was thick but its belly was unprotected.  As Gallahon was up on its head, he tried piercing its head, but his sword would not go through the plating.  Trenton ran under the Dragon’s belly, cutting it along the way.  The beast felt it.  It turned its attention towards Trenton.  It used its tongue to grab Trenton’s leg.  But he used his fast reflexes to cut the Dragon’s tongue.  The beast was hurting.  As it roared, Nina rushed over to help Trenton out.  But the Dragon managed to whack Nina with its hand, knocking Nina out.
“Nina!” Trenton yelled out.  Nina awoke from cautiousness just to witness Trenton getting swallowed by the Dragon.  Nina’s eyes widened at the horrifying sight.  Trenton, eaten by the Sea Dragon.  Gallahon paused as if he could not believe his eyes.  The beast threw Gallahon off of its head.  Gallahon flew in the air but landed on his feet.
As the Dragon headed towards Gallahon, a blade pierced through its neck.  Trenton, still alive, cut a gaping hole in the Dragon’s neck, jumping out its throat.  He was covered in saliva and blood.  As Trenton landed on the ground, the Dragon’s body fell onto the floor, giving Gallahon the opportunity to finish it.  Gallahon walked up to it.  As the Dragon used its last breath to shoot out sea water from its mouth, Gallahon cut its neck more, finishing the beast off.  The Sea Dragon was now dead.
“That was a nice trick you did Trenton, jumping out the Dragon’s throat like that.” Gallahon said.
“Yeah.  And now that all that’s done, I need a bath.” Trenton said as he looked upon himself.
“Trenton.” Nina turned to him.  Trenton smiled at her.  “I would hug you, but…. I don’t want to touch you until you’re cleaned.”
“There they are.” Creed said.  “The Dragon stones.  Our mission has come to an end.” He said as Gallahon walked up to the shrine.  The rain had stopped and the sun broke out through the clouds.  Gallahon looked upon the stones.  There were five stones.  Gallahon had taken his shield and placed it in the center so the stones were surrounding the shield.  The shield was in place and the stones had worked their magic.
The stones were glowing bright and shot out beams onto the shield.  The shield’s magic would be restored, however changing the shape of the shield.  The new shape that the shield has taken form of was a fairly unique shape.  Although it still had the dragon horns attached to it, the shape of the shield itself changed from round to edged shaped.  The full, hidden power of the gold dragon shield had finally been found.  Gallahon had taken his new shield and put it on his back.  The crusaders cheered as their mission was a success.
“HAZAH!  HAZAH!  HAZAH!” They cheered.  Creed turned to the others for a speech.
“Alright my fellow crusaders.  We have completed our mission.  But now’s not the time for celebration, not yet.  Our mission was a success, yet our quest is far from over.  Now that we have our might and our weapon.  It’s time we take our fight to the bastard that took our homes.  It’s time to bring Alvatourix and Airloc down.  There will be bloodshed, but not our blood.  We will fight, and we will win!  Restore King Psygon to his rightful throne!  Now let’s take back our homeland!  Let us BE VICTORIOUS THIS DAY!” The crusaders, Gallahon, Trenton and Nina all cheered loud and proud.  Creed’s speech was as inspiration to them all.
“Now let us go!” Creed had lead on, followed by the other crusaders, Trenton and then Nina.  Gallahon walked on.  But before he went any further, he stumbled upon something.  He saw what it was.  He thought it to be some kind of large stone of some sort.  He picked it up, but it was very light weight to be a stone.  He then thought it was a dragon’s egg.  He couldn’t just leave it behind.  He carried it alongside him.  But if any of the others found out about it, he didn’t know what the others would say or do.  He decided to keep it a secret and raise it in secrecy.

When they got back inside, they were surrounded by Draconians.  The nine heroes had formed a circle and readied their weapons.  One of the Draconians leaped towards Gallahon with a sword.  Gallahon put up his shield.  As soon as the sword hit the shield, the shield’s great power was activated.  The shield had released a powerful aura that formed a dome around him, Nina, Trenton and the crusaders.  The blast from the aura grew and grew bigger until every Draconian that surrounded them were vaporized.  Gallahon had recovered.  Every Draconian that had surrounded them were turned to dust.
“DAMN!” Gallahon said as he looked upon his shield.  “Now that was worth the effort.” He smiled.  Team Darkoss and the crusaders had moved on.  They have exited the temple.  Thankfully the boat was still there waiting for them.  They have got into the boat and shoved off.  They were heading home and the battle with Alvatourix and Airloc will soon begin.
